ABOUT ME
Hi there! I’m Isabelle. If you’re here this probably means that I sent you this link.
I firmly believe that all of us are defined primarily by our thoughts, whether these thoughts are rational or not. At the same time, I also believe in a form of recognition; we are what others think us to be. Reconciling these two, the internal recognition of who we are through our thoughts and the external recognition that others impose or, in the words of Judith Butler, inscribe upon us, is the object of language.
This conclusion is not new, or unique; Ludwig Wittgenstein himself came to the conclusion that this was the objective of what he called “language games”, in an ironically unreadable piece of philosophy titled the Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. All that we are, then, and all that we believe we are, are communicated by representations; words, images, sensations. It is only through honing our ability to represent things to each other that we are truly able to connect.
To this end, I endeavour to give voice not only to myself, but to others, because everyone deserves to be seen and heard. While this website is primarily for me to post my own works, if you like the way I write and think I would be able to give voice to your thoughts please let me know!
